Kerrang front cover - Codes and Conventions

Here is some of my research into the codes and conventions used on the front cover of the music magazine, Kerrang, I like the colour scheme used within the front cover as it makes the images stand out more within the page, in each of the covers the title of the magazine is always very dominant even when it is placed behind the photo of the bands, providing a 3D effect which i feel is very effective and becomes very eye catching.

Hello and welcome to my blog, here I will be uploading all of my research concerning my media studies print based coursework, I will be uploading various different pieces of research, evidence and planning regarding the music magazine I am required to create. 

I will be looking into creating a music magazine based upon popular magazines such as Kerrang, Q, and NME, I will be looking into the different codes and conventions used within these different genres of music magazine and aim to use these codes and conventions within my own finished product.

The Brief

For my Foundation Production I will be completing the folowing brief:

Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program.

Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine (if done as a group task, each member of the group to produce an individual edition of the magazine, following the same house style). Maximum four members to a group.

All images and text used must be original, produced by the candidate(s), minimum of FOUR images per candidate
